The Only Thing That Matters
There’s something to be said for persistence as being the single, overriding factor that leads to success.
That sounds like the right thing to say but that’s not always how we talk in practice.
We tend to think about the brilliant idea as being the most important thing, or perhaps the creation of a detailed plan of action, or (as is more usually mentioned) copious amounts of money (aka funding).
But the truth is that that’s not really the case. It’s really about persistence - in all its forms.
Persistence to stay true to your idea regardless of what everyone else is saying or doing.
Persistence to course-correct as and when needed, to ensure that you stay on your path.
Persistence to keep going even when the obstacles seem insurmountable.
At the end of the day, it’s really about dogged determination and barreling through come hell or high water.
Which is why we so often see that the “great idea” is outpaced by the more average offering. That incredible execution that is pursued with commitment is far better than the perfect product imperfectly delivered.
You know, there’s an old saying that the successful aren’t those who are the smartest, they’re simply the ones who kept believing and never gave up.
I believe that’s the absolute truth.
