No One Will Believe In You, Unless You Do
When my wife and I had our kids, there was one thing that we agreed on fully and completely. And that was, if we taught them nothing else, but we taught them to have self-esteem, that we gave them the gift of self confidence, they would be alright in the world. They'd be able to weather any storm, any relationship, any job, any business.
I truly believe this. If you look at any issue (large or small) in the world, and the individuals perpetrating those issues, the root of their issues typically begins with a lack of self-esteem, some insecurity, some crisis of confidence that sets them on the path to resolving those issues. Sometimes, they resolve by means that are innocuous, and other times, in ways that have serious ramifications on others.
So it all starts with us, and how we trust in ourselves, our self talk, our self belief. If we do the good work to believe in ourselves, we are invincible.
And if we can't believe in ourselves, we can't instill this sense in our kids, our families, our friends, our colleagues.
In this regard, I found the video below to be enlightening, informative and practical. In my mind, the best tip comes at 6:40:
Get away from the people who will tear you down.
It's a great video, and well worth your time. Enjoy!
