Time As Wealth
At the end of the day, I think the most important type of wealth we’re after is time. In particular, the freedom to do what we want with it.
I know the conventional thinking is that we’re after financial freedom, but the reason we’re after that is to be able to do whatever we want i.e. to use our time as we please.
Now, I also appreciate that this is something that probably becomes more prominent as we get older. When we realize that we don’t quite have as much time as we did when we were young.
But, really, it’s true at whatever age we’re at. It’s just that when we’re young, we feel we’ve still got plenty of “do-overs”. As we get older, we realize we don’t.
In our setting of priorities, it makes sense to be clear on what our real goal is.
We can then allocate our time with a bit more intent, and a bit more discipline.
