The One Thing
It’s easy to get caught up in the minutiae of our daily work.
Particularly, when you’re growing something - from a project to a business - there are any number of things that need to be taken care of, and every single one of them seems important.
From the branding to the website to the administrative activity, we can spend our time doing things that, while necessary, aren’t central to the mission.
But, really, all that really matters is the one thing. Pretty much always.
Pretty much always, there is that one thing that will move the core objective of the business forward. That one thing that allows us to get to MVP, or that allows us to Launch, or that brings in a paying customer.
It’s essential to focus on that, first and foremost.
Of course, the other stuff is important. But when you’re crunched for capacity and resources, when you’re bootstrapping, and when you need to show results, it’s better to allocate your time to getting that one thing done.
If you don’t, nothing else matters.
